May 18 2010 2009-10 Season Recap & Final Rankings
Thank you for your support of HighSchoolGolfScoreboard.com. We finished a busy week in Austin live scoring the 2A-5A state tournaments. We received much positive feedback from many across the state, Superintendents, Athletic Directors, Coaches, Parents, Players, Media and the UIL. Your state tournaments received coverage all over the country and page views were well into the millions. We received emails from teachers/administrators who could not physically be in Austin, but felt like they were there watching via live scoring. We have verified reports that some schools had set up projectors and were watching in classrooms and gyms. Additionally, we recruited over 40 volunteers for the entire week and they were there to support and give back to your sport: High School Golf. Special thanks to Coach Nokes and Austin Westlake for many of their players helping as volunteers. HSGS Staff & TAGC have agreed to allow a two week period for any coach to submit any additional tournament results or correct any result they feel is in error. This will allow many across the state time to get results in before the final rankings are published and the selection of the HSGS All-State Teams. Therefore, HSGS will accept tournament results until 1 pm CST, June 1st. After this, we will review and correct any results before submitting to Golfstat for final rankings. Please make sure you input the slope & rating and gender correctly into the format. Remember, video tutorials are posted to ensure accuracy and support for coaches.
In the coming week we will highlight the new enhancements that will be made for next year that will give coaches/tournament hosts an even simpler way to submit results. We request each of you to encourage your players to still join the scoreboard. The players can fill out their profiles and list their academic, extra-curricular, and golf highlights. Many colleges are starting to look at the player profiles after the live scoring for academic & athletic potential scholarships. I personally had six phone calls after the state tournament from college coaches and one admissions officer wondering why they could not see the profile of several players on the team/school sites. I simply told them, the players were not yet a member and had not taken the time to fill out and update their profiles. This opportunity and many others are what your players need and deserve. HSGS is the ONLY site in the USA to promote & highlight High School Golf. After the live scoring, Texas High School Golf is on the radar of many thousands who had never been able to view High School golf results, rankings and team pages. We always welcome your feedback both positive & negative. It always leads to improvements in serving the High School Golf Community.
